Bobrisky: I will not side with your reputation – Minister of Int. to Correctional Service

Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, has stated his lack of interest in covering up for the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS).

His statement comes after cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky’s rumors of getting favours while serving his term in prison.

Tunji-Ojo made this statement on Monday, noting that the issue concerning Bobrisky was about reputation management and the ethical conduct of the paramilitary agencies under his supervision.

According to the Minister, he would not defend the agencies if they erred while carrying out their responsibilities.

TopNaija recalls that a panel established by the Federal Government some time ago, declared that there was no evidence that the crossdresser, Bobrisky did not serve his six-month jail term in prison, as alleged.

While the panel dismissed the allegations, it acknowledged that Bobrisky enjoyed some privileges in NCoS facilities while serving his term. The panel described this development as unacceptable and unethical.

The Minister, while speaking at the opening ceremony of a two-day Performance Contract Signing Retreat organized for senior officials of the Ministry and the paramilitary institutions under it, said the paramilitary agencies should improve their efforts in internal security to support peace and national growth.

The retreat had the theme: “United Front for a Secure Nation and Future,” with all paramilitary services, such as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), and the Federal Fire Service (FSS), participating.

Tunji-Ojo said the NCoS, in particular, should be seen as transformative and reformative toward inmates, with rehabilitation prioritized to respect human rights and uphold citizens’ dignity.

The critical role that the Federal Ministry of Interior has to play in our internal security is very key.

“Every little effort from each and every one of you is important because without security you can’t talk about investment, without security you can’t talk about tourism and industrialization.

“Without security, you can’t talk about stabilization of the capital or money market or even employment. So it means that there is no productivity without security,” he said.
