Blind woman seeks help in finding missing one-year-old daughter after disappearance from home in Lagos

A 33-year-old blind mother has pled to the public for assistance in finding her missing one-year-old daughter.
The young mother, identified as Agnes Forte, revealed how her child, Excel, disappeared from the family’s home in Akowonjo, Lagos, on November 28, 2023.
During an interview with Saturday PUNCH Forte said, “My child cannot go missing like that because I am physically challenged. I can’t see, I don’t have money, and now my baby is taken away from me.”
Forte, however, suspected her 13-year-old stepdaughter, identified as Joy, who she said has also been missing.
She said on the day the two of them went missing, she discovered that her ATM card, some money and Excel’s clothes were also missing.
“I am sure Joy is the one who carried my child, not anybody else,” Forte stated.
She said she reported the incident to the Mosalasi Police Station, but little progress has been made.
She said she informed the policemen of suspicious interactions between Joy and a neighbour prior to the disappearance.
With no family nearby, Forte said she relied on her church members for assistance.
“I don’t know what else to do again. That’s why I’m calling on Nigerians for support, to help me secure my child’s return,” Forte pleaded.
“I will be so happy if my baby comes back to me, please,” she added.
