"Biden supporter behind Trump shooting" -- Andrew Torba

Gab CEO Andrew Torba has disclosed posts purportedly from Thomas Crooks, the man who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump.

According to Torba, an unnamed law enforcement agency informed him that Crooks may have posted pro-Biden messages on Gab, a platform notorious for its alt-right user base and conspiracy theories.

The controversial account, @epicmicrowave, last active in 2021, reportedly posted nine times in support of President Biden. Torba shared images of these posts, highlighting Crooks’ defense of Biden’s COVID lockdowns, border policies, and executive orders.

In one post, @epicmicrowave dismissed doubts about Biden’s electoral victory, responding to a projection:

“Didn’t you also think Biden would lose in a landslide? Yeah, I would not be very confident in your election predictions.”

Another post backed Biden’s border policies, arguing they do not incentivize human trafficking and linked to a study comparing crime rates among undocumented migrants, legal migrants, and U.S. citizens.

Torba’s disclosure comes amid claims that he received an emergency request from law enforcement to reveal these posts.

He stated:

“If the past is any guide, defying the D.C. consensus by publishing the first definitive evidence that the shooter was a Biden supporter—something Democrats and their media allies have tried to cover up and deny at every turn—has a high probability of resulting in significant political and media backlash.”

The FBI is currently investigating the shooting as an act of domestic terrorism. Despite a detailed timeline of Crooks’ movements and online activities, the motive behind targeting Trump remains unclear.

Gab, often criticized as a “haven for hate and disinformation” by the Anti-Defamation League, finds itself once again at the center of a political firestorm. Torba’s claims, if substantiated, could add a new dimension to the narrative surrounding the attack on Trump, raising questions about the intersections of online radicalization and political violence.
