Besiktas submit offer for Leicester City's Kelechi Iheanacho

Turkish club Beşiktaş JK has emerged as a potential destination for Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho, offering him a lifeline from his relegated club, Leicester City. The talented striker has captured the attention of several Premier League clubs, but Beşiktaş has reportedly submitted an offer to secure his services.

Following an impressive 2022-2023 season, during which Kelechi Iheanacho stood out as the best player at Leicester City, reports indicate that the 26-year-old has attracted interest from various English clubs. Everton, Burnley, and Nottingham Forest have all expressed their desire to acquire Iheanacho’s services in the ongoing summer transfer window, according to TribalFootball.

As Iheanacho’s contract with Leicester City expires at the end of the upcoming season, the Nigerian forward eagerly awaits a move to reignite his career. However, it appears that a potential move to Turkey could be on the horizon, as Beşiktaş has officially submitted a bid to Leicester for his transfer.

The offer put forward by the Turkish club reportedly consists of a loan deal that would cover Iheanacho’s wages of €2 million per season. If all parties involved agree to the terms, Leicester City would not have to bear the financial burden of the Nigerian forward’s salary throughout the 2023-2024 season.

Beşiktaş’s keen interest in Iheanacho stems from the recent injury suffered by Cenk Tosun, increasing the club’s demand for a new striker. Recognizing Iheanacho’s goal-scoring prowess and potential impact on the team, Beşiktaş aims to bolster their attacking options with the Nigerian international.

Although Kelechi Iheanacho was unable to help Leicester City maintain their Premier League status in the recently concluded season, he made a significant contribution to the Nigerian national team’s qualification for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), set to commence in Ivory Coast in January 2024.

The Nigerian forward secured Nigeria’s participation in the forthcoming AFCON tournament with a crucial winning goal against Sierra Leone in Liberia on June 18, 2023. His impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, as clubs seek to harness his talents for both domestic and international competitions.
