Bernardo Silva Free to go to Barcelona until--Pep Guardiola

The Bernardo Silva exit rumors gears up again just like it did last season, but this time, it’s Barcelona that is looking to poach the player from the Etihad.

The reports of the Portuguese leaving the club seems like something that has been unable to die off ever since it started last season.

But Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola has maintained he still needs the attacking midfielder in his squad this summer despite the rumors of Barcelona’s interest in the star.

While speaking to the press, Pep Guardiola admits of Silva’s importance to his squad but will very much understand if the player wishes to leave.

The Spaniard admits he won’t be a holding factor that keeps the midfielder from exiting the club as long as certain terms are met.

Ever since joining the Cityzens in 2017, the Portuguese has guided Manchester City to several titles in recent years, winning multiple premier league titles, the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup along the way.

It is understood that Xavi Hernandez, Barcelona’s coach is a huge fan of the Portuguese who he could work well with at the Camp Nou.

In a recent press conference, Pep Guardiola denied confirming Bernardo Silva will leave, stating in quote:

“I didn’t say he’d leave,’ said the City boss. ‘The answer was the same as last season. You ask me every week, I always say I want the best for the players.

“I want Bernardo to stay. 100 per cent. But at the same time if you want to leave, have an offer, clubs come to an agreement. Common sense.

“He’s an important player, special, but I don’t know what will happen. We didn’t get any offer last season neither. Bernardo’s ready, training well for Sunday.

“I talk a lot with Bernardo, with all of them, maybe because I’m getting old and we know each other quite well. I’m more relaxed as a manager with them, I know them.

“Their feelings, the good and bad moments. But not about this situation, if I have to tell him something I tell him, but we don’t have doubts about the situation. He’s happy, engaged, he has a beautiful dog. He’s happy here, what will happen will happen.” The former Barcelona manager said.

At this moment, it’s unclear what the intention is for Bernando Silva at Manchester City, although Pep Guardiola’s words could be a ploy to get Barcelona to pay more money for the Portuguese by being headstrong on agreeing a deal.
