A top and persistent Benue State governorship aspirant, Dr. Stephen Hwande, on Saturday had a near-death experience, TopNaija can confirm.

 

The Managing Director of First Fertility Hospital in Makurdi, Dr. Steven Hwande, first declared his intention to contest for the foremost seat of power in Benue State in the forthcoming 2019 gubernatorial election.

In 2018, Hwande told newsmen on Monday in Makurdi that after extensive consultation with major stakeholders across the state, he decided to offer himself for the service of the state.
“I have tendered a letter of resignation to the management of Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Makurdi, where I worked as a consultant gynaecologist and this marks my official disengagement from the Civil Service.”

TopNaija however gathered that Dr Hwande who is the Managing Director of First Fertility Hospital, Makurdi, and the Chairman Governing Council, Benue State College of Health Technology, Agasha, narrowly escaped death in a ghastly motor accident on Saturday.

Details of the accident remain sketchy at the time of this report. Meanwhile, a source said he is currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital.
