Bellingham Clasico: The World needs to hear Real Madrid out
Barcelona vs. Real Madrid is the derby of all derbies, a fixture that for many years had the world standing still until recent years when its glamor was lost with the exit of great names from both clubs. But if there is anything the 2023/24 season has proven so far, it is that Real Madrid has found a way to bring the lost glamor back with just one smart piece of business.
Earlier in the summer, the world couldn’t understand the hype behind a certain English wonder kid supposedly in his last season for Borussia Dortmund, but for some reason, Real Madrid was ready to hold steadfast in their interest to bring in said English kid to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Prior to the transfer, rumors were rife, speculations rampant; will Jude Bellingham end up making the move to Spain? Will he move to Liverpool? Will the temptation to play in his home country be too much to lure the England international from Germany and to Spain?
There were a lot of narratives, but the summer window ended all talks as the 20-year-old finalized the move to Real Madrid when the Los Blancos triggered the call to serve. No one can reject Real Madrid when they come for you, they say, and indeed Jude Bellingham did not reject the La Liga giants.
But what no one could predict or even had up for the narratives was how spectacular the Englishman would end up being for the Los Blancos in his debut season. He is an Englishman first and foremost, with the popular narrative being that the English media tends to hype its own even far more than their capabilities, and worst, Jude Bellingham was still technically a kid.
Of what impact would a kid like that make in his first season?
Flash forward to Saturday, the 28th of October, Jude Bellingham has won Real Madrid the El Clasico at arch rivals Barcelona’s home ground. He not only scored the winner in the El Clasico, but netted a brace to initiate a comeback for the Los Blancos.
Signing of the season? The world can now agree, but for Real Madrid to cough out that sum for an English kid, this guy isn’t just the signing of the season but a future great in the game.
Borussia Dortmund may have had the sale of the summer, however it is Real Madrid that has the steal of the century, and for that, the world must hear them out.
