Beheading of Military Couple was done in front of 10 year old Daughter

The news when it had first broke, took the internet by storm.

The fact that bandits could lay siege on two married couple in the Nigerian military and behead them while en route to Imo State, was a thing to wonder, and at great length spoke ill of the security in Nigeria if criminals aren’t scared to attack soldiers.

Even more worrisome is the tragic revelation that comes via BBC Pidgin that the gunmen who carried the very act on the murdered couple had executed the act before their 10-year-old daughter. The report comes courtesy of a family member during an interview with BBC News Pidgin.

The family member; a relative of Gloria Mathew, the female military officer, disclosed the two were attacked not far from Banana Junction, Orlu, Imo State while on their way for their traditional wedding with the incident happening at about 3 o’clock, while they journeyed from Lagos to Nkwerre.

Gloria’s relative further disclosed that the traditional wedding was expected to take place on Monday, May 2nd in Nkwerre Local Government Area, which as fate could have it, never happened.

The military still debates on the idea that the act was carried out by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), an allegation which the group has so far denied, instead accusing the military of blackmail.
