TopNaija reports that the incident happened during the burial preparation of the Alaafin, at around 10 am on Saturday, April 23.

On a side note, TopNaija reported earlier that the respected Yoruba monarch, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi passed on at age 83 as the longest-reigning Alaafin.

The corpse of the monarch was brought to Oyo town, the Oyo State capital, very early on Saturday, and traditional rites were carried out before burial.

According to reports, a policeman, some of the sympathizers, mourners, traditional rulers, and religious leaders were among the victims attacked by the swamp of bees.

It was gathered that residents in the open space in the palace who were stunned, plucked tree branches and leaves to ward off the attacking bees.

The victims were assisted to drive away from the bees and removing some of the insects which got stuck on their bodies.
