Big Brother Naija Season 5 housemate, Laycon has begun to receive death threats from alleged fans of Erica Nlewedim, a disqualified housemate, after he revealed his health status.
Recall that on Tuesday night, Laycon revealed to the housemates that he is a Sickle Cell patient (SC) and he is not too strong as he has been struggling with it since childhood.
And it also answers the question on why he puts on socks and hoodies all the time.
“I am sickle cell and i have been with it since i was a child, it is dormant in me, I don’t always like to tell people about my genotype because they always like to pity me and i don’t like that”.
The news broke the heart of not just the housemates, but his fans and Nigeria as a whole which attracted mixed sympathies for him.
Shortly after he made that revelation, photos of death threats from alleged fans of Erica was leaked online.
The photo is a WhatsApp chat which had morally despicable contents predicting the death of Laycon, rape among other horrible things they wish will happen to him and his family.
The sender of the threat identified as Favour, wrote:
“That 85m…He will regret.. It will burn in ashes.
People day will endorse him and regret it. Erica will be winning people’s heart while he will be begging on the street.
His future daughter’s story life will be worse.. Shebi he used Erica to shine… Guys will rape his daughter”, she cursed.
Meanwhile a Nigerian doctor, Chinonso Egemba better known as Aproko Doctor on Twitter, took his page to educate Nigerians on the difference between SS and SC genotype.
The doctor revealed that the SS and SC genotype are very similar because the two genotypes cause the sickle cell disease.
He also said that Laycon had the SC variant which is a milder form but unfortunately the SC variant has the most symptoms of the sickle cell disease.
“For those asking: The SC gene and the SS gene are similar in the fact that both cause the Sickle Cell Disease.
The combination of two S genes from either parent or one S and one C from either parent. Laycon has the SC variant. Which is a milder form, with most of the symptoms”, he wrote.
