Bawa charges EFCC staff to uphold its core values
The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa has urged its staff to abide by the core values of the commission in dealing with crimes.
According to EFCC Chairman, these values include courage, integrity and professionalism.
Bawa, on Thursday, disclosed this in Port Harcourt, Rivers State while addressing staff of the agency.
As indicated by him, the duty of tackling economic and financial crimes implies that existing laws are imposed as they ought to.
To allow staff of the agency do this, they must abide by the core values of the commission, Bawa stated.
He said, “Leaders of the EFCC should enforce the laws the way they are expected to be enforced. If you cross the line, the EFCC will investigate you and take you to court.
“But above all, we must do this with courage, integrity and professionalism which are the core values of the Commission and these are the values we should maintain.”
Bawa charged every staff of the Zone to be ready to take the commission to the next level, emphasising that taking accountabilities for actions and inactions was vital.
He said, “We know what is expected of us. We should be ready to take the Commission to the next level.”
The Chairman guaranteed every staff of the same opportunity in the area of welfare, placement and acceptance.
“Each of us is important. We should always work as a team and there should be no dichotomy of any kind,” he stated.
He added that a clearly formulated career path was in progress for every staff of the commission.
The Chairman further said that Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) would be established to prevent injustice in performing official duties.
Bawa cautioned staff against intentional inaccuracies, emphasising that such behaviour would not be accepted.
