Bauchi Police Kill 2 Kidnapping Suspects in Encounter
SP Ahmed Wakil, a police spokesperson in Bauchi, said on Sunday that gun-wielding criminals broke into the house of a resident of Rafin Gora and tried to abduct his 28-year-old son.
“The victim resisted the kidnap attempt and was shot multiple times in his lower abdomen while trying to escape.
“Police operatives in conjunction with a local vigilance group mobilised to the scene to confront the kidnappers who welcomed them with sporadic gunshots,’’ he stated.
He went on to say that the operators efficiently returned fire, causing the attackers to flee in disorder, maybe with gunshot wounds.
“Two of them met their waterloo, while one AK47 was recovered from them.
“The 28-year-old victim was rescued and immediately taken to the Federal Medical Centre at Birnin Kudu for treatment,’’ Wakil stated.
He also said that a search for the fleeing individuals had started so that they may face the law.
In other news, a 72-year-old woman had her genitals cut off by her house help, identified as Onyebuchi Ezeh and other body parts in an attempt to use them for ritual purposes in the Orumba state area of Anambra State.
The incident happened in Umunze, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Thursday.
It was gathered that the victim was rescued by neighbours who later took her to the hospital after she raised the alarm.
The suspect, who was later caught confessed that he and some others at large, committed the act on the instruction of a native doctor, who had promised to make them rich if they brought the required organs.
