Barcelona want to ‘Sign’ Trent Alexander Arnold
Barcelona want to make a statement in Europe by signing Trent Alexander Arnold from Liverpool next summer according to online reports from Spain.
La Liga club, Barcelona have been accused of being arrogant with their aspirations this summer, judging with their transfer activities and lofty visions, and that is about to continue as they eye a certain Liverpool star, Trent Alexander Arnold.
Trent Alexander Arnold has been a right-back that has been widely raved about in Europe with the Catalans now setting their eyes on the player ahead of 2023.
The news comes courtesy of Futbol Total as they state the marquee signing would be a statement that will complete their squad.
It should be noted that the Liverpool born right-back has his contract expiring in 2025 after he recently signed a new deal last season to extend his contract with the club.
At the summer of 2023, the player should he not sign another extension, will have 2 years remaining at his boyhood club, Liverpool.
The reports also state that the Catalans would be prepared to make a bid of €80m (£67m) by then for the player to see if the Reds could be forced into selling the player.
It remains to be seen if Barcelona’s plan to poach the player off his boyhood club would be a success considering Trent Alexander Arnold is a player that came through the academy system of the club and is a citizen of the City of Liverpool who is expected to follow in the path of Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard.
Steven Gerrard like Trent, was from the City and had spent most of his career at the club before moving to the MLS with LA Galaxy, after turning down a lot of offers from rival clubs to leave Liverpool.
But it is not unheard of for a Liverpool player to make the move to Spain or to Barcelona as Luis Suarez, Javier Mascherano, Philippe Coutinho, have all made the switch to the Catalans, although none of these players were Scousers like Trent Alexander Arnold.
The right-back will be available for selection going into Saturday’s fixture against Fulham at Craven Cottage at noon time.
