Bangkok gives Liverpool an Anfield reception

Talk about home away from home and you will have to bring in the reception Bangkok gave to the Liverpool team immediately they stepped out of the airport in preparation for their pre-season fixture.

The welcome was widely reminiscent of the Anfield atmosphere on match days as the Bangkok Liverpool fans trooped in en masse to welcome the team to the City.

The supporters who were all clad in red, handled placards to whistle and celebrate the players and the manager as they arrived in town for the first time in years for the pre-season games.

It was quite the reception that surprised the Liverpool manager himself that he found a need to comment on it in a press conference organized for the team.

“Was it like this yesterday when Manchester United came?” he asked, giving a subtle dig on arch rivals who weren’t privileged to receive quite the reception the team had.

It is said that the fans had gathered at the Bangkok airport 6 hours prior to the team even landing as they were intent on giving the Anfield club the heroes welcome.

There was even a rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ played in the background as the team walked by to the cheers of fans.

The Thailand City is quite known for having a big Liverpool fan base and it was telling with the way the team was received at the airport.

With a 37 man squad list, Liverpool set on to take on Manchester United and Crystal Palace in Bangkok as they kick start their pre-season.
