Bandits Killed During Invasion of Market In Zamfara
Two bandits were said to have been killed during a shooting at a market in Zamfara, by a vigilante.
TopNaija understands that. The assailants stormed the marker with their numbers on Wednesday, November 2.
It was reported that on the evening of the aforementioned date, gunmen shot sporadically at traders which led to pandemonium in the area.
An eyewitness, during a chat with media publication, Daily Trust, stated that a vigilante, wielding a Dane gunshot two bandits dead in an attempt to repel the attack on the market.
He, however, said the bandits killed three traders who attempted to escape from the market, which is situated 7 kilometers off Kaura Namoda-Shinkafi road.
The eyewitness added that the bandits called for reinforcement and overpowered the vigilantes before they looted goods and set dozens of motorcycles ablaze.
He said: “When the armed criminals had arrived, they opened fire on traders and pandemonium broke out as everyone was scrambling out of the market to safety.
“However, a vigilante wielding a Dane gun fired several shots at the assailants, killing two of them instantly. The vigilante quickly changed position and continued to fire shots at the advancing gang of criminals even when some of his colleagues had withdrawn.
The armed men called for reinforcement and overpowered the vigilantes. They flooded the deserted market looted goods and set dozens of motorcycles ablaze. Burned–out motorcycles and market stalls have doted the scene of the fight.
“Some military uniforms and other goods were recovered after the armed gang had withdrawn. One of the slain traders was from Kaura Namoda town and his burial has been scheduled for tomorrow morning.”
