According to a witness testimony, the shooters entered the village early in the morning and fled with the victims, including roughly 40 women and children, while riding motorcycles.

According to the report, most of the Kokiya village children who were en route to the Government Day Secondary School in Karare were kidnapped.

The eyewitness was quoted as saying:

“The attackers came from the southern part of the village and started shooting sporadically, which resulted in the death of one person.”

According to the source, the bandits kidnapped 28 persons, including students, but later freed four of them. They also released one Malam Ladan and three youngsters as a message that they would not accept old naira notes as ransom, the source added.
