Babajide Sanwo-Olu approves release of 4 Lagos inmates

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has endorsed the release and committal of the sentences of four prisoners in the correctional centres of the state.

According to a statement issued by the Attorney-General of Lagos State, Mr Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), on Friday, disclosed that Sanwo-Olu gave the approval on the advice of the State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy.

Onigbanjo declared that the governor affirmed the release of one prisoner and offered committal orders for the lessening of the sentences of three prisoners.

He said, “The Lagos State governor had given approval for the release of one convicted inmate, a committal of the death sentence of two inmates to life imprisonment.

“The governor also approved the committal of the life imprisonment of one inmate to 18 years imprisonment.”

As indicated by the attorney-general, the endorsed documents of approval by the governor of Lagos State have been submitted to the correctional centres of the state for instant processing.
