Ayodele Fayose Resigns After PDP Looses Presidential Election

Published

Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti State in Nigeria  has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and from partisan politics.

This came shortly after the PDP lost the presidential election to the ruling All Progressives Congress. Fayose, who made the announcement during an appearance on Arise TV, also claimed that the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, rejected a proposal from aggrieved G-5 governors that he serve only one term in office.

Fayose blamed the National Chairman of the PDP, Iyiorcha Ayu, for the party’s failure at the polls.

He also criticized the Civil Society Organisation protesters who he claimed were actually PDP members, and encouraged people in Lagos to vote for the incumbent governor, Sanwo-Olu, rather than the PDP candidate.
