Avoid Manchester United, Good Players Flop There—Saha Warns

Former Manchester United player, Louis Saha has advised young French players to be cautious about joining the Red Devils considering the tendency for promising players to underperform there.

Marcus Thuram and Randal Kolo Muani have been cautioned by former France striker Louis Saha not to join Manchester United.

Didier Deschamps made several substitutions in the second half of their World Cup final loss to Argentina on Sunday, including Thuram and Kolo.

Olivier Giroud and Ousmane Dembele were replaced by Thuram and Muani, and both players gave France a much-needed lift.

The European powerhouses battled back to a dramatic 3-3 draw, only to lose heartbreakingly in penalties 4-2.

While Muani has eight goals in 22 games for Eintracht Frankfurt, Thuram has 13 goals in 17 for Borussia Monchengladbach.

Thuram, whose Bundesliga contract is now six months from expiration, has been linked with a departure from Gladbach, with United reportedly leading the race to sign him in the coming month for as little as €12 million.

Saha wants them to be able to see the project Erik ten Hag is constructing at Old Trafford and have confidence in the work being done off the field and on it.

“Marcus Thuram and Randal Kolo Muani made a brilliant contribution to the game [against Argentina] in very difficult circumstances,” Saha told Paddy Power.

“At this moment in time, young players moving to Manchester United need to be cautious because we have seen some really good players struggle at United. I’m not saying they shouldn’t join because of that, but it’s a difficult time,” he added.
