Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), filed a petition before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja, challenging the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Tinubu as the winner of the election.

Similarly, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has also submitted a petition challenging the process leading to the outcome of the election held on February 28, 2023.

Obi came third in the election, with Atiku Abubakar coming second and Tinubu being declared the winner and president-elect.

Obi had criticized the process of the election and questioned its credibility, vowing to challenge both the process and outcome of the poll in court.

He maintained that he would follow all legally allowed processes to reclaim his “mandate.” However, he distanced himself from the nationwide “#EndINEC”, “#ENDNigeria” protest allegedly planned by Obidients, saying that he would pursue legal avenues to reclaim his mandate.
