ASUU Strike: Members call for immediate sack of Education Minister, Adamu Adamu

The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS has called upon President Buhari for the removal of Minister of Education Mallam Adamu Adamu from office.

The student association called for the immediate sack of the Minister over his role in the ongoing ASUU strike action.

This is coming after the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, on Monday, August 1, declared another roll of strike for an additional four weeks as the Government is yet to meet their demands.

In a statement released on Wednesday, August 3, the NANS President, Sunday Asefon, beseeched President Muhammadu Buhari to sack Adamu over what they described as gross incompetence.

According to Asefon, the Minister lacks compassion and empathy for Nigerian students, as ASUU had gone on strike for at least 18 months since he assumed office.
The statement reads, “This development calls to question his qualification to be appointed as minister of education in the first place. His total lack of compassion and empathy for the plight of Nigerian students speak volumes.
“Since he became minister ASUU has gone on strike for almost 18 months cumulatively and the entire educational structure of our tertiary education system is in total shamble under his watch”
