“Arteta will join Manchester United” — Rio Ferdinand
Reports around Erik ten Hag’s exit from Manchester United couldn’t have been any louder after the Red Devils’ defeat to Fulham last weekend.
Among those drumming for or eyeing the Dutchman’s exit from the club, is former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand. According to the former England international, current Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta could be one of the managers eyed to take over the reins at Old Trafford if situations come to that stage.
In his podcast, Ferdinand hinted at the possibility of Arteta joining Manchester United if the club were to seek a replacement for current manager Erik ten Hag.
Ten Hag has been linked with various managerial positions, including the possibility of joining Bayern Munich. Ferdinand suggested that in such a scenario, Arteta might consider departing from his role at the Emirates Stadium.
“Mikel Arteta would leave Arsenal to join Man United, 100 per cent,” Ferdinand stated during the podcast.
He emphasized that while there’s no concrete indication of this happening, if Manchester United were to pursue Arteta as their top choice after a hypothetical departure of Ten Hag, the Spaniard might be compelled to make the move.
Ferdinand illustrated the scenario, stating,
“Arteta is going in and saying to the lads, ‘listen guys, it’s been emotional but I’ve got to move, I’ve got to go.’”
It will be an interesting one, if not shocking to see Mikel Arteta dump the Gunners team for a chance to manage the Red Devils. A lot of convincing ought to have taken place in such scenario.
