Arsenal vs. Newcastle United: Poetry and Revenge in motion
Hostilities find its way to bring Arsenal and Newcastle United together for another Premier League rematch, but this time at the Emirates, giving the Gunners one of its rarest opportunities to correct mistakes made from the last meeting at the Saint James’ Park.
Fresh off the 1-0 nightmare, the North London side will be eager for a result especially after falling to another 1-0 defeat in mid-week to FC Porto in the Champions League.
Arsenal stand a chance to cover the 5-point gap built between them and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side if the hope still remains to be in the premier league title race with Manchester City and the Merseyside Reds.
However, talk is cheap for Mikel Arteta’s side as despite the Magpies having endured some poor moments on the form table, Eddie Howe still hopes to push once more for the top 6 if not the top 4. Doing the double against Arsenal takes Newcastle United to within reach of a top 4 finish with 12 more games to go.
So far, Arsenal have been able to build on some consistency since the turn of the year, netting 21 goals in 5 games and conceding just 2 within that period.
For Newcastle United however, the reverse appears to be the case as the Magpies compared to Arsenal, have endured some inconsistencies in their previous 5 fixtures, netting 14 while conceding 12 from their opponents. In that time frame, Eddie Howe’s side have only managed 2-premier league wins in 5 games.
Hence, judging on form, this stands a poetic moment for Mikel Arteta’s team to get the justice they craved at the Saint James’s. However, the Magpies themselves can write poetry of their own if they do the double against Arsenal.
