Arsenal vs. Liverpool: Klopp breaks silence on Szoboszlai

Liverpool don’t seem to be getting a break on the fitness end as the manager, Jurgen Klopp confirmed hours before the kick off against Arsenal that midfielder, Dominik Szoboszlai will be a key absence to the Reds lineup.

This comes after reports rained the media space of Szoboszlai’s exclusion from the Liverpool squad that had travelled to face Arsenal.

According to Jurgen Klopp while speaking with Sky Sports pre match, he confirms the issue to be a reoccurrence of the previous setback suffered by the Hungarian captain.

It’s not stated when Szoboszlai will make his comeback but the former RB Leipzig star could be out for sometime.

Jurgen Klopp revealed;

“Dom felt in the same area, or pretty much a similar area, to where he was injured before.

“Not in the game, he was fine, and then after the game [he felt it] slightly so we had a look at it and there was now no chance for him to be involved in this game.

“We cannot take any risk. We have to wait for further assessment but it was clear that he cannot be involved today. That’s it, pretty much.”

The Hungarian had made his comeback against Norwich City in a 5-2 win, setting up an assist for Virgil van Dijk after coming from bench.

The Hungarian was also on hand to help Liverpool score against Chelsea in mid-week in a 4-1 win.

On the other end of the divide, Mikel Arteta explained the reason for Gabriel Jesus’ absence from the Arsenal squad saying;

“Unfortunately, he had a setback in training and he wasn’t fit to play. It’s something related to his knee, but I think it’s a short-term thing.”
