Arsenal vs. Brighton and Hove Albion: The Stakes
Arsenal versus Brighton and Hove Albion at the Emirates couldn’t be a bigger game than it already is considering the stakes involved for the Gunners heading into the 3 pm kickoff time.
Win the tie against the Seagulls, the North London club moves 2 points above Liverpool at least until the Reds face off their bitter rivals at Anfield at a latter kickoff time. There is also the possibility that Arsenal could return to top spot this weekend if Liverpool fails to beat Manchester United like everyone expects.
With Manchester City playing both Liverpool and Arsenal the advantage to further strengthen their hold on the top 2 positions, the moment is now for both teams to carry on an interesting title challenge that as ironic as it sounds may turn out to not involve Manchester City this time around.
However, talk is cheap, considering Brighton themselves are quite the formidable side to play against, and if anyone should know of that fact, then it is Arsenal who have seen the Seagulls become a bane to them especially at the Emirates.
Just last season, Brighton claimed all 3 points with 3 goals and a clean sheet against a formidable Arsenal at the Emirates to derail the Gunners’ title aspirations for the 2022/23 season.
As much as Sunday’s tie is about getting the vital 3 points and pushing for a first premier league title since 2004, this fixture is about regaining lost pride and glory denied of the Gunners at a time it most mattered.
For Roberto Di Zerbi however, this fixture is nothing more than pushing for the top 6 and staying in the European spots.
And with Manchester United facing Liverpool at Anfield, the hope for Brighton is for a Liverpool win to guaranty a 6th place finish this weekend.
