Arsenal Survive Bournemouth, Reiss Nelson The Hero

Arsenal vs AFC Bournemouth is the reason a Premier League weekend is never a dull affair, especially when it involves a title race.

The brittle which the Gunners were made of was tested in the Saturday weekend spectacular as Bournemouth charged into an early lead in the very first minute of open play.

The everyday football fan may have termed it a lapse in concentration but when Bournemouth hit a second just 8 minutes to half time whistle through M. Senesi, it became obvious it was Arsenal being complacent.

However, AFC Bournemouth’s Senesi and Philip Billing weren’t to be the heroes of the match but the home side’s Thomas Partey whose goal cancelled Billing’s first, with Ben White charging in with the equalizer in the 71st minute for Arsenal.

Reiss Nelson however left things to the 97th minute to claim glory and all 3 points for Arsenal.

Some pundits will say these are the games that make Champions but if Gary Neville would have his say, this game stands the point beyond all doubts that proves they have a long way to go before they can wrestle Manchester City to the Premier League title.

It was a premier league weekend, and this one brought Arsenal fans all the emotions they did not expect to contend with against AFC Bournemouth, and for Mikel Arteta, it shows the team shouldn’t rest behind the laurels of comebacks.

Sure, they have fought for a lot of comebacks this season, but it will be the Gunners’ undoing if they make it much of a habit going forward into the tougher end of the season.

What happens when they face a team who won’t tolerate them having a comeback?

These are one of the lessons Arsenal must learn as Manchester City now go back to sitting 5 points behind the North London side despite it’s 2-0 win against Newcastle United.
