Arsenal Sit 8 Points Top Of EPL With All Eyes On Liverpool

Arsenal Football Club has taken an eight-point lead at the top of the English Premier League table following their 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday. The win comes after Arsenal’s Europa League exit at the hands of Sporting Lisbon last Thursday.

The game, played at Emirates Stadium, saw the home team dominate throughout. Gabriel Martinelli, who missed the decisive penalty against Sporting Lisbon, scored the opening goal of the match with a left-footed finish in the 21st minute.

Arsenal’s lead was doubled just before half time when Bukayo Saka scored their second goal with a cool finish past the Palace goalkeeper. The home team continued to press after the break, and Granit Xhaka added to their tally with a goal in the 60th minute.

Palace managed to pull one back through Jeffrey Schlupp in the 75th minute, but Saka sealed the win for Arsenal with a sublime volley in the 85th minute.

Arsenal are in no way ready to let Manchester City have a sniff of their back as the Gunners continues to ward off City’s threat with every passing game to remain top of the Premier League.

The story is set to get more exciting when the Premier League returns with Manchester City set to play former EPL title rivals Liverpool who themselves are chasing a berth in the top 4 race.

Liverpool can choose to revenge previous title losses to Manchester City by doing Arsenal a favor at the Etihad should the Reds manage to steal all 3 points on the day. It however depends on how the Gunners themselves do after the game.
