Arsenal Should Start Being Cautious Or They’ll Pay – Tony Cascarino

Former Chelsea player, Tony Cascarino, has criticized Arsenal for their recent performance in their 4-2 win against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday. Despite the win, Cascarino believes that the Gunners are going to pay a heavy price if they continue to go toe-to-toe with their opponents amid the Premier League title race.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Cascarino said that Mikel Arteta’s men have work to do if they want to win the Premier League title this season. He claimed that Arsenal cannot win the title by playing a toe-to-toe game with their opponents and must be prepared to win games 1-0.

He said:

“The one thing I felt after the game yesterday is, you are not going to win the title doing that. Going toe-to-toe with the opposition. You are not going to do it. You have got to convince your players, ‘We might have to win games 1-0’.”

Cascarino added that Arsenal needs to be careful about their approach to the game, as going toe-to-toe with opponents is a bit dangerous for them. He suggested that Arsenal could learn from Leicester’s title-winning season in 2015-16, where they won games by keeping clean sheets.

“I always admired the year that Leicester won the title – they did it in two ways in one season. They went toe-to-toe early on, and then they were quite cautious and didn’t give much away. I think they had five 1-0s in the second part of the season, and they got over the line,” he said.

Despite the criticism, Arsenal currently sits at the top of the Premier League table, pushing Manchester City to second once more.

The Gunners will hope to continue their winning ways when they face Leicester City in their next league game on Saturday.
