Arsenal plot 'secret move' for Manchester United target 'Onana'

Recent reports suggest that Arsenal and Manchester United are intensifying their pursuit of Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, fueling speculation about a potential January transfer scramble for the talented Belgian.

Football Transfers disclosed that United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, had initially eyed Onana as a priority signing over Sofyan Amrabat last summer. However, financial constraints reportedly hindered the move.

Now, with funds available for a significant acquisition in January, United might make a serious play for the versatile 22-year-old, known for his ability to perform across the defensive line and in midfield.

Ten Hag’s admiration for Onana’s adaptability seems to be a driving force behind United’s interest. Everton, in turn, has long shown interest in Scott McTominay, making the Scotland international a key target for their manager, Sean Dyche.

Rumors suggest the possibility of a mutually beneficial swap deal involving the two players, presenting an intriguing scenario for all parties involved.

Nevertheless, United faces tough competition from Arsenal in their pursuit of Onana.

The Gunners, who have recently suffered three consecutive defeats leading to a slip from the top spot in the title race and an exit from the FA Cup, are eager to bolster their squad.

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, reportedly holds a keen interest in recruiting Onana, and the player is said to be open to a move to the London club.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri, formerly on Twitter, indicated the intensity of ongoing talks between Everton and Arsenal for Onana.

Tavolieri’s claim hinted at the midfielder’s desire to remain in the Premier League, suggesting rapid developments in the potential transfer saga.
