Arsenal Only Defeated Chelsea’s Second Team—Rio Ferdinand
It appears quite a lot of people, specifically pundits have issues with Arsenal defeating Chelsea in the weekend, one of them includes Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand.
According to Ferdinand, Arsenal should hold their celebration over their Sunday Premier League victory at Stamford Bridge in check, according to Premier League legend Rio Ferdinand.
Ferdinand claimed that Arsenal just defeated Chelsea’s “B team.”
On Sunday, Mikel Arteta’s team won the London derby between the two dominant Premier League teams 1-0, returning the Gunners to the top of the standings after the league’s first 13 games.
Graham Potter used a back four of Cesar Azpilicueta, Trevoh Chalobah, Thiago Silva, and Marc Cucurella in a 4-2-3-1 system, with Edouard Mendy in goal.
The holding midfielders were Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Jorginho, and the three up forward were Raheem Sterling, Kai Havertz, and Mason Mount. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang played as a lone striker.
The strength of the Chelsea team that faced the Gunners on Sunday did not convince Ferdinand.
“Look at the opponent you [Arsenal] were playing, it wasn’t even their first team,” he said in his YouTube podcast.
“Still impressed, but it was not their first team. Kepa [Arrizabalaga] is the No.1 goalkeeper now.
“[Reece] James, [Ben] Chilwell, [Kalidou] Koulibaly, [Wesley] Fofana, [N’Golo] Kante, that’s six players who all [usually] start.
“It was their second team, their B team. Six starters didn’t start!”
