Arsenal fans thrown into frenzy over injury update on key player

Arsenal fans are concerned after a worrying injury update on William Saliba, as the Gunners prepare for their title run-in with a home game against Leeds.

The French centre-back has played a crucial role for Mikel Arteta’s side this season, but he suffered a back injury during their Europa League clash against Sporting CP on March 16.

After the full-time whistle, Arteta stated that Saliba had only suffered a minor setback, but it was later revealed that the injury was worse than initially feared. According to reports, the defender missed training at Arsenal’s London Colney base on Thursday, and he is set to miss this weekend’s clash against Leeds.

It remains unclear when Saliba will return to the first-team squad, but GOAL claims that he is a “major doubt” for Arsenal’s clash with Liverpool next weekend. The news has left Arsenal fans fearing the worst over his fitness as the Gunners prepare for a tough fixture list against the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea.

Arsenal fans expressed their concern with one saying, “Regarding Saliba, classic Arteta mind games. I hope and pray.”

Another added, “Not great that Saliba is a ‘major doubt’ for Liverpool.”

A third supporter commented, “If Saliba might be out for a long time, then it’s time we get behind Rob Holding. Stop overthinking formations and trust in Holdini.” A fourth supporter said, “Without Partey and Saliba…the Leeds game will be very hard to win.”

Saliba, who has made 39 appearances for club and country this season, will be a significant loss for the Gunners if he is out for an extended period.

Last month, Mikel Arteta praised the French defender for answering questions that were raised at the start of the season, saying:

“There were a lot of question marks, and he went with all of them, ticking them off and giving us every reason to be confident that he was a great player for us.”

Meanwhile, Thomas Partey did take part in training on Thursday ahead of this weekend’s game, and he is expected to play against Javi Gracia’s side. The Gunners will hope to secure a victory against Leeds and maintain their push for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
