Arsenal fans divided over Arteta’s tactics

Arsenal turned things around in a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup semi-finals on Tuesday, but fans are left fearing the worse ahead of their Premier League clash versus the Eagles.

Following the 3-2 win, the Arsenal fandom are debating over Mikel Arteta’s next tactical move.

Gabriel Jesus was the hero of the night, netting a spectacular hat-trick and reigniting hopes of his peak form returning. Yet, for many Arsenal fans, his resurgence poses a dilemma: what happens to Kai Havertz in the starting XI?

Arteta’s use of Havertz as a forward this season has been polarizing, and with Jesus finding his groove, speculation is rife that Havertz could be shunted to midfield. The idea has already divided fans online.

One fan on X suggested, “Kai Havertz at the tip of the diamond is looking like a decent idea again.” Another countered, “He should put Jesus LW. That’s the problem area.”

A more skeptical supporter lamented, “Probably this weekend.. I am tired already.” And in a nod to last season’s tactics, one fan warned, “Did it against Villa (H) last szn and we lost the league.”

Arteta, however, remains steadfast in his faith in Jesus. After the game, he praised the Brazilian’s sharpness and versatility. “He has a quality, a way of creating and innovating situations that is quite unique. Now this is a moment of spark that will bring so much confidence,” the manager told Sky Sports.

With the weekend’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace looming, fans are anxiously awaiting Arteta’s decision. Will he lean into Jesus’ current form and field him as a No.9, or will he risk destabilizing the midfield by moving Havertz?
