Arsenal close to securing First January signing

Arsenal is on the brink of initiating their first departure in the ongoing January transfer window, aiming to generate funds that could facilitate the acquisition of a new striker for manager Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Reports indicate that Arteta has pinpointed Brentford’s Ivan Toney as the primary target for Arsenal’s striking reinforcement, intending to bolster their position in the Premier League title race alongside contenders like Liverpool and Manchester City.

Additionally, Arteta’s side is reportedly displaying significant interest in Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi and considering a potential move for Ajax’s Jorrel Hato to fortify their midfield options.

However, Arsenal finds itself navigating financial constraints concerning profitability and sustainability rules (PSR), potentially limiting their activity in this transfer window unless player departures can alleviate these constraints.

According to insights from the Daily Mail, Arsenal appears close to finalizing their inaugural sale of the window, with mounting interest in midfielder Mohamed Elneny.

The report suggests that Turkish clubs Trabzonspor and Besiktas have submitted offers for the Egyptian international. Arsenal is currently evaluating these proposals as they weigh Elneny’s potential departure from the Premier League club.

Elneny’s involvement with Arsenal this season has been limited, with the midfielder making a total of four appearances. His status has seen a decline in Arteta’s midfield preferences at the Emirates Stadium, subsequently prompting interest from clubs eyeing a potential transfer for the player.
