Army, Air force, Navy promotes senior officers

The Nigerian Army, Air force, and Navy have approved the promotion of senior military officers to the next rank.

A meeting on the elevation was held on Wednesday at the Ministry of Defence, Abuja, chaired by the Defence Minister, Major General Bashir Magashi (rtd).

The board sitting were attended by Chief Of Army Staff (COAS) Lt-General Tukur Buratai, Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas, Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar, their respective military secretaries and other top officers.

The promoted Army personnel are in the ranks of Lieutenant Colonel, Colonel, Brigadier General and Major General in the NA.

The levels are equivalent to Commander, Captain, Commodore and Rear Admiral in the NN, and Wing Commander, Group Captain, Air Commodore and Air Vice Marshal in the NAF.

On Thursday, the Nigerian Navy issued a statement on the lift of 203 naval officers.

A total of 122 Lieutenant Commanders were promoted to the rank of Commanders, 38 Commanders to Captains.

Also, 24 Captains were raised to Flag Rank of Commodores, while 19 Commodores are now Flag Rank of Rear Admiral.
