Ariana Grande Annuls Grammy Performance Over Song Selection

Only few days before the 2019 edition of the Grammy Awards, Ariana Grande, one of the major performers on the night has pulled out completely after a disagreement with the organizers over her choice of songs.

Several outlets are reporting that the singer who has one of the best selling albums right now fell out with the Grammy Academy when told that she couldn’t perform her latest single 7 Rings at the event. The board will eventually acquiesce but insisted on choosing the other song she will perform at the Grammy. Grande refused and ultimately canceled her highly anticipated performance.

Her annoyance may not be unjustified as other performances were not given the same conditions. The case is similar to Lorde’s, who in 2018 decided not to perform after not given the same performance spot given to the male artiste nominated in the same category as her.

Ariana Grande’s album Sweetener is nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album. while her single God Is A Woman is nominated in the Best Vocal Performance category. The Grammys holds on Sunday, February 10 at the Staple Centre in Los Angeles.
