Argentina Parade Suspended After Dangerous Incident

The world cup win by Argentina after years of waiting on the trophy was quite the excitement for passionate Argentina fans, and in that regard, nothing could be spoken of the joy fans in Buenos Aires, the Argentine capital had when the national team returned home with the trophy for the parade.

On Tuesday, Argentina’s players and supporters took to the streets to parade their World Cup trophy and celebrate their victory.

But after some spectators missed the mark while attempting to jump onto the open bus carrying the players, the event had to be called off out of safety concerns.

For the event, Buenos Aires streets in Argentina’s capital were filled with more than four million people.

Two fans, however, were left in a severe condition when they attempted to board the bus by jumping off the bridge, forcing the bus to make an immediate detour.

The second man leaped too late, hit the back of the bus, and fell to the road, while the first man was successful and made it into the vehicle.

Security personnel then made the choice to end the march early. The players took a helicopter ride back to the team’s training center outside of Buenos Aires.

The director of Buenos Aires’ emergency medical services, Alberto Crescenti, acknowledged there were eight injuries on Tuesday.
