Araujo signs new contract with Barcelona

Barcelona‘s worries about Ronald Araujo‘s contract talks have finally disappeared as the 23 year-old defender signs new deal.

Earlier in the season, his future with the club was vague giving chance to clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United to target his transfer.

The new contract has however, included a release clause of €1 billion to chase potential buyers and emphasize the importance of the player to the club.

According to FC Barcelona’s official site, the terms of Araujo’s new contract will keep him at the Camp Nou until 2026.

The Uruguayan center back signed his first contract with Barça B on 29 August 2018 and became part of the FC Barcelona first team squad in the 2020/21 season, winning the Copa del Rey has his trophy.
