U.S. Department of State, U.S. Embassy South Africa, Public Affairs Section (PAS) has announced a project entitled “Young African Leaders Forum and Ignite Talks”. The grantee will work cooperatively with the Public Affairs Section (PAS) at the U.S. Embassy in Pretoria to design and implement a two-day Young African Leaders Forum and Ignite Talks event that will elevate the voices of Southern Africa Mandela Washington Fellows (MWF) and other leadership program alumni around the topics of inclusion and tolerance.

The Ignite Talk speakers will include MWF and YALI Regional Leadership Center (RLC) alumni, and other non-USG Africa-based leadership program alumni, who will highlight the importance of regional integration and cooperation in the areas of business and entrepreneurship, civil society, and government. In addition, the grantee would invite and confirm participation from high profile African leaders working in business, civil society, and government to add their voices to the Ignite Talks conversation.

All events during the Young African Leaders Forum, inclusive of each Ignite Talk, should include a discussion on how inclusion and tolerance have affected the presenter’s work, community, and country. In preparation for the Talks, the grantee would coordinate professional coaching and advice for the participants to deliver a high quality performance. The grantee will also coordinate the professional filming, recording, and post-production editing of each Ignite Talk for potential use on social media or follow-on programming.
