APGA ward chairman murdered by gunmen in Ebonyi

According to reports, the Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Ohofia Agba Ward, Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Monday Idoko, was allegedly killed by gunmen.

The incident occurred at about 11 p.m. on Wednesday in his Onueke village, in the Ezza South Council of the state.

A family member who spoke anonymously in a telephone interview said that the attackers broke into Idoko’s home and dragged him out of his sleep before shooting him in the head.

They had reportedly come just before midnight, and despite efforts to rush him to the hospital, he died in the village.

Idoko was described as a young, hardworking man who dedicated his life to serving the party and the community. He was reportedly making arrangements for a visit to the area by the APGA governorship candidate, Prof Bernard Odoh, before his untimely death.

This incident is not the first of its kind in the state. APGA supporters in the Ohaukwu Local Government Area also lost one of their own, Oscar Elom, who was similarly murdered.

Additionally, the convoy of the APGA governorship candidate was attacked in the same area, resulting in the death of his driver and a police inspector, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Efforts to reach the Ebonyi State Police Command for comment on the matter were unsuccessful.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Chris Anyanwu, did not answer calls or respond to messages as of the time of filing this report.
