The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Uba Sani, as the winner of the Kaduna state governorship election.

Senator Sani won with 730,002 votes, while his closest rival, Isah Ashiru Kudan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), scored 719,196 votes. The Labour Party candidate, Jonathan Asake, came third with 58,283 votes, and the New Nigeria Peoples Party candidate, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, came fourth with 21,405 votes, while rejected votes stood at 19,114.

The PDP candidate won in 13 local government areas (LGAs) of the state while Senator Sani won 10 LGAs. The APC candidate won in Giwa, Ikara, Kauru, Sabon-Gari, Zaria, Kubau, Kaduna South, Kaduna North, Igabi, and Birnin-Gwari, while Ashiru won in Kaura, Sanga, Kajuru, Jaba, Makarfi, Jema’ah, Zango-Kataf, Soba, Chikun, Kagarko, Kachia, Lere and Kudan.

Before the official announcement, there were wild celebrations in some parts of the state that the PDP candidate had won. Residents celebrated the victory at various locations in the state, including Barnawa, Sabon Tasha, Narayi, and Gonin-Gora, all in the southern part of the state.

Speaking about the election results, Senator Sani said, “This victory is not just for me, but for the people of Kaduna state who have placed their trust in me to continue to deliver the dividends of democracy. I want to assure them that I will not disappoint them and will work tirelessly to make Kaduna state a better place for all.”

The PDP candidate, Ashiru, however, rejected the results, alleging widespread irregularities and rigging. He said, “The election was neither free nor fair, and we will challenge the results in court. The people of Kaduna state have spoken, and we will not allow our mandate to be stolen.”

This election is another example of the importance of civic duty and political participation. As Nigerians, we have a responsibility to vote for the candidates we believe will best represent us and work towards the betterment of our communities.
