Another Nollywood Actor Dies in US

Another tragedy has struck the Nigerian film industry as actor Chikezie Uwazie has passed away, Topnaija reports.

This unfortunate event comes just one day after the demise of renowned Yoruba actor Murphy Afolabi.

Uwazie’s death was the result of complications from his second brain surgery, which took place in the United States.

Chikezie Uwazie, a prominent figure in the early 2000s, left Nigeria more than seven years ago to pursue opportunities in the United States.

The news of his passing was shared by his colleague Obey Etok Chima through a heartfelt message on her Facebook page. Clearly in shock, Chima expressed her disbelief at having to relay such sorrowful news.

She mentioned receiving the information from their alma mater’s alumni platform and reminisced about Uwazie’s plans to return to Nigeria after seeking greener pastures abroad.

Sadly, those plans were never realized, and now his untimely departure has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him.

Chima concluded her message by extending her wishes for him to rest in peace.

Before his relocation, Chikezie Uwazie made a significant impact in the Nigerian film industry, appearing in various Nollywood movies.

One notable work he was involved in was “Musical Whispers,” a poignant film centered around autism.

This production, directed by Bond Emeruwa and produced by Ebele Okaro, showcased Uwazie’s acting talent. Additionally, he was featured in “Village Destroyer” alongside acclaimed actor Osita Iheme and Ugo Ugbor.

His versatility was evident in the movie “Last Kiss,” where he shared the screen with Emeka Ike, Ini Edo, Ejike Asiegbu, and Mercy Johnson Okojie, among other esteemed actors.

Tragically, Chikezie Uwazie’s passing marks the third loss suffered by the Nollywood community in just three days, following the recent deaths of Saint Obi and Murphy Afolabi.

These consecutive losses have sent shockwaves throughout the Nigerian film industry and have left fans and colleagues mourning the talented individuals who have left an indelible mark on the world of entertainment.
