Android Alert! Link That Crashes Whatsapp Application For Android Users Revealed
A newly discovered Whatsapp link that can crash the application immediately for android users alert has just been revealed.
According to a further report,
A new bug has been reported on the WhatsApp Android app which is triggered by a link.
The bug crashes the app as soon as a user opens an individual or group chat which has a link related to WhatsApp’s settings.
According to a report from the Android Authority, it is currently facing a bug that is causing its Android app to crash.
The bug is triggered when users open an individual or group chat containing a specific link, wa.me/settings.
Normally, this link should open the settings page of the WhatsApp app, but currently, it is causing crashes on Android devices.
The bug appears to affect both individual and group chats, including those on WhatsApp Business.
The report states that opening a chat with the problematic link causes the crash, but the app restarts normally afterward, unless you revisit that specific message thread.
The bug is reported to affect the 2.23.10.77 version of WhatsApp for Android, although it is possible that other versions are also affected.
Notably, the WhatsApp bug was first reported by a Twitter user with the handle @BruteBee, who revealed that it affects the WhatsApp Business version 2.23.10.77. The user further confirmed that the bug causes the app to crash when attempting to share the URL on WhatsApp status.
How to fix the WhatsApp bug
If you are also facing a similar issue, there is a simple fix. WhatsApp Web, the browser version of WhatsApp, is apparently not affected by this bug.
Therefore, you can log in to the WhatsApp Web through your browser and delete the message or chat that triggered the crash.
After that, your WhatsApp on your phone will not crash unless you receive the same problematic link again.
As an update to the bug report, a recent tweet from @BruteBee reveals that WhatsApp has fixed the bug.
The tweet states, “It appears @WhatsApp has fixed the bug! Thanks everyone for spreading this tweet! At least for wa[.]me/settings, the party is over.”
We even checked if the bug was still causing the crash, but the link was fine and did not crash the WhatsApp app.
However, if you are still facing the issue, you should update your app from the Google Play Store.
