Anambra state’s governor-elect, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has been sworn in as governor in a low-key ceremony on Thursday.

The outgoing governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano, arrived at the swearing-in ceremony in a convoy of cars, amidst cheers from Anambra people.

Dignitaries in Anambra State and beyond were also at the gate of the Anambra State government house in a bid to attend the ceremony.

However, Soludo had previously announced that not more than 50 people would attend the event, in order to ensure it ends quickly as he intends to start work on Thursday.

Soludo arrived at the event in the company of his wife, Mrs Nonye, while his Deputy, Dr Onyeka Ibezim also arrived with his wife.

As his last task as governor, Obiano  inspected the guards of honor. Obiano thereafter left the swearing-in ceremony abruptly with his wife, Ebelechukwu, who trekked out of the venue at exactly 9.55 am.
