Amotekun apprehend gun-wielding suspects in Osun

The Osun State Command of the Southwest Security Network, Amotekun Corps, has arrested two suspects in connection to attacks on residents in the Ita-Olokan area of Osogbo, the state capital.

The suspects, identified as Afeez Olaniyan, aged 27, and Ismail Wahab, aged 23, were apprehended with a locally made pistol gun.

According to a statement by the Corps Commander, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinbi (retd.), the Amotekun operatives arrested the suspects following a tip-off from residents in the area.

The swift action of the Amotekun Corps has been commended by the residents who expressed relief at the arrest of the culprits.

The hoodlums were arrested on Wednesday after receiving a distress call from the residents of the area on the activities of the suspects unleashing attack on the residents of Ita-Olokan Osogbo and its environs.

“Our operatives swung into action instantly after the complaint was made and the culprits were arrested and a locally made pistol gun was found on them at the time of their arrest.

“Upon investigation, they confessed to committing the act and using the firearm to protect themselves.”

The suspects have been handed over to the police for further investigation, as stated by the Amotekun boss.

He added that the Amotekun Corps remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of the people of Osun State.
