Osun governor Adeleke engages Lagos counterpart Sanwo-Olu over alleged deportation
In a bid to address reports of the alleged deportation of Osun indigenes from Lagos to Ilesa, the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has reached out to his counterpart in Lagos, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The concern arose following a publication by an online platform detailing the purported deportation of hundreds of youths from Lagos to Ilesa. According to the report, luxury buses transported these individuals from various parts of Lagos and dropped them off at different locations within Ilesa.
Confirming the incident, Governor Adeleke deployed an investigation team to verify the authenticity of the claims.
The team’s findings revealed that eyewitnesses observed the arrival of the youths in several luxury buses, suspected to be from Lagos, at multiple locations along the Ilesa-Akure Express junction, Breweries, Ilesa-Ibodi-Iginla to Ife Express junction, Osun Ankara Express junction, Imelu Express junction, and Iperindo Express junction.
Expressing shock over the situation, Governor Adeleke initiated communication with Governor Sanwo-Olu to address the matter promptly. Governor Sanwo-Olu denied authorizing such actions and assured an immediate investigation into the incident.
Governor Adeleke further directed security agencies in Osun to intensify surveillance in and around Ilesa to monitor the movements of the deported youths and their destinations. He urged residents to remain calm while security agencies conduct their investigations and provide updates on the situation.
