Alex Ferguson, One of your problems not Ronaldo—Del Piero

Former Juventus player, Alessandro Del Piero has responded to the criticisms that 5 time golden ball winner, Cristiano Ronaldo is the problem of the Manchester United team.

For the Juve legend, he instead believed the club has far many problems that very much do not concern the Portuguese forward.

Del Piero is of the opinion that former Manchester United manager and hero, Sir Alex Ferguson contributed to one of the Old Trafford side’s problems, alleging that something went missing from the squad and the club the minute he left the club.

Recently Ronaldo indicated interest on leaving the club for other challenges, particularly if a bid comes that the club deems satisfactorily.

The action of course led to many criticisms, many of which pundits have touched on one way or the other.

The Portugal captain as far as the pre-season goes, has not reported for training nor engaged in the tour with the team as he had requested an extended time off for ‘family reasons’.

Speaking to ESPN, Del Piero said of Ronaldo;

“I still believe he is an amazing champion with a great mentality,

“He is not in shape like you used to see. If you play in a team that is playing super well, your performances will be much better.

“On the other side, if you play in a team that is not playing well, it is the opposite. You will play much worse.

“Manchester United are still in a difficult position. They have changed a lot with managers and players, and something is missing at the club ever since Sir Alex Ferguson left.

“They have different problems, not only Cristiano Ronaldo.”
