Alex Chamberlain could depart Liverpool this season

It appears there will be mass exodus from Liverpool this summer, and the latest player reported to be on the move this season, is Liverpool’s forgotten man; Oxlade Chamberlain.

He strolled into a fine season in his first season at the club, after a transfer from Arsenal, but it all went down hill after the game against AS Roma when the English man picked up a knee injury.

Since that lengthy injury lay off, the Midfielder hasn’t been able to find the form he once had that had aided Liverpool’s stroll to the Kyiv final.

Of course, there were glimpses, like against Atletico Madrid this season, but the former Southampton man hasn’t been able to maintain that consistency in run of games.

Now with just a year remaining on his contract and diminishing game time, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could bid Liverpool farewell this summer as a new deal is not set on the cards for the star.

The 28-year-old enjoyed a relatively injury-free 2021/22 season but made only 17 starts for the Reds in all competitions, featuring just 7 times since the turn of the year.

The worst was that he missed out on a place in the match day squad in 7 of the last eight Premier League games of the season with his last appearance coming against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on March 20.

The Times‘ Paul Joyce now reports that Oxlade-Chamberlain will be allowed to leave the club this summer, with one year remaining on his contract.

Chamberlain did attract interest from Newcastle in January but the move was rejected.

With Liverpool now open to his departure, the No. 15 knows there will be no guarantees next season for game time.

Chamberlain sits in a similar position with Takumi Minamino and Neco Williams, who are also said to have attracted interests with desire for regular play time that cannot be guaranteed at Anfield.
