Aleksandar Mitrovic reportedly ruins big money move to United

Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has reportedly jeopardized his chances of securing a move to Manchester United following his red card against the Red Devils last weekend.

Mitrovic’s dismissal came in the 72nd minute of the game at Old Trafford, which Fulham led 1-0, after he furiously shoved the referee. This resulted in a likely lengthy ban for Mitrovic, with the FA currently investigating and considering a 10-match ban.

Mitrovic’s red card has also affected his chances of a potential move to United. According to the Daily Star, the Red Devils had been considering a big-money bid to sign the 28-year-old, with manager Erik ten Hag impressed by his 11 Premier League goals and last season’s record-breaking Championship tally of 43.

Aleksandar Mitrovic had been seen as a potential alternative to Wout Weghorst, whose loan deal with Burnley is set to expire in the summer.

However, the report suggests that United has taken Mitrovic off their list of potential targets due to his lack of discipline on the pitch. Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Barcelona were also said to have been monitoring the Serbian’s progress at Fulham.

Aleksandar Mitrovic joined Fulham from Newcastle United in 2018 and has since scored 94 goals in 169 appearances across all competitions for the London club, winning the player of the year award on two occasions. The Serbian international had been seen as a potential target for several top clubs, but his red card at Old Trafford may have hindered his chances of a big move.
