Aisha Yesufu is a bitter, toxic woman — Bayo Onanuga
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, criticized prominent activist Aisha Yesufu on Wednesday, labeling her as “bitter and toxic” over the 2023 presidential election results.
Onanuga’s comments were in response to Yesufu’s reaction to a video showing South African President Cyril Ramaphosa allegedly ignoring Tinubu during his inauguration ceremony. Yesufu had commented on the video, saying, “My people say Pikin wey no hear word for house na for outside dem go disgrace am! Tinubu disgraced once again in South Africa.”
Reacting on X (formerly Twitter), Onanuga accused Yesufu and her supporters of being perpetually negative and quick to judge anything they perceive as unfavorable towards Tinubu. “Aisha and her uncouth horde of pessimists are always quick to rush to judgment with any whiff of what appears to them to be negative to the leader of Africa’s biggest democracy,” he wrote.
Onanuga suggested that Yesufu’s bitterness stemmed from the disappointing performance of her preferred candidate, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, who finished third in the election. “More than a year after the 2023 election, in which their candidate came third, they remain incurably bitter and toxic, more than the supporters of the man who came second,” he added.
Yesufu, known for her outspoken activism, has yet to respond to Onanuga’s remarks. The exchange highlights ongoing tensions and polarized sentiments following the closely contested 2023 presidential election.
