Air Peace faces backlash over flight cancellations

Passengers are once again calling out Air Peace over what they describe as repeated flight cancellations, poor communication, and utter disregard for customers.

This time, popular renowned Igbo historian, researcher, and author Maazi Dibia has taken to social media to slam the airline after his flight was cancelled twice without prior notice.

According to Maazi Dibia, his flight was initially cancelled a week ago, and when rescheduled, the supposed evening flight shockingly took off in the morning—without informing passengers.

Furious over the confusion and inconvenience, he demanded that he must fly that evening as originally planned.

A history of disruptions and frustrated passengers by Air Peace

Maazi Dibia’s experience is far from an isolated case. In September 2024, passengers faced similar frustrations when flights were cancelled just hours before departure, leaving many stranded without options. One traveller painfully recalled paying ₦150,000 for an Abuja-Ibadan flight, only to have it cancelled at the last minute, with no alternative provided.

Another passenger detailed a nightmare scenario in Abuja, where he was left stranded for hours with zero communication from the airline. Reports have surfaced of Air Peace cancelling flights multiple times over two days, offering vague excuses while customers were left helpless and frustrated.

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) in December probed Air Peace over the allegations of exploitative ticket pricing, including significant price hikes for bookings on certain domestic routes. The airline has been accused of arbitrarily cancelling flights without proper compensation, further fueling public anger and raising concerns over its operational transparency.

With mounting complaints and growing discontent, many are asking: Is Air Peace really living up to its name, or is it causing more chaos than convenience?

The airline has yet to issue an official response to these latest allegations.
